Welcome to Chicago, where Sara grew up, and which Egon is growing to love. We hope you enjoy your stay at this city which is pretty much the best city (not just the Second City). Find below a list of important locations to make sure you know how to get where you need to go.
Welcome Drinks
The night before the wedding and the morning after the wedding, we will gather at ENO Wine Bar at The Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, which is on Michigan Avenue just north of the river. It will be a fun, casual night of drinks, dessert, trivia and speeches! Its exact location is below in the “hotels” section. ENO Bar will validate parking for those driving!
Ceremony & Reception
We are getting married at the Art Institute of Chicago, on Millennium Park. It is where Sara grew up going when she was a little girl, and where Sara and Egon spend a lot of their time when they are in Chicago. Its exact location is:
Please enter the Art Institute at the 111 S. Michigan Ave entrance. Coat check will be on your left upon entry. We will exit at 230 S. Columbus Drive, and coats will be delivered to this location as well.
Transportation & Parking
Buses
We will run a 50-passenger bus (from the Trolley Car & Bus Company) from the Intercontinental Magnificent Mile (see below) to and from the Art Institute for the ceremony and reception.
Departure from hotel to ceremony: 5:20pm and 5:40pm, with pick up at the south side of the Intercontinental Chicago on Illinois Street.
Departure from reception to hotel: 11:00pm, 11:30pm and 12:00am, with pick up at 230 S. Columbus Drive.
Parking
If you plan to drive to the Art Institute, there are three parking garages you may use:
- East Monroe Street and Millennium Park garages (entrance at Columbus Drive and Monroe Street)
- Grant Park south garage (entrance at Michigan Avenue between Van Buren and Adams streets)
- Grant Park north garage (entrance at Michigan Avenue between Madison and Randolph streets)
Hotels
The Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile
This will be the wedding party’s main hotel, and is north of the Art Institute on Michigan Avenue. A 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the museum, it is also great for those want to spend their weekend exploring the rest of the city – as it is on the Mag Mile, near shopping, restaurants, etc. Rooms are going fast due to a number of conventions in town so please book as soon as possible!! We will also run a bus from the Intercontinental to the Art Institute for the ceremony, and back after the reception.
