Our story

It all started in winter 2015…

Despite the fact that Egon is a lawyer, Sara acquiesced to going on a blind date with him after her good (and persistent) friend from Harvard, Vanessa, insisted that he would be a good match. After their first date, in which Sara made Egon eat a second dinner because she had a philosophy that all first dates should involve food so as to be certain they would be enjoyable, Sara thought “Hm, I would like to spend more time with this man.” Egon was apparently not scared away by the fact that Sara ordered approx 3 helpings of fries and couldn’t guess his favorite drink after 6 tries. Dates 2, 3, and 4 grew exponentially longer, and Egon and Sara decided 2 weeks after meeting that they were perfect for each other. Two months after meeting, they took 10-day trip to California together, and Sara called home to tell her parents she had met the guy she was going to marry. (Egon had actually decided the same thing on that trip, which Sara found out after a fun night of drinking with the Melzers in Nobb Hill.)

Fast forward 2 years later, and Egon and Sara are ready to DO THIS. Egon has survived Sara’s parents (Sara’s Dad likes to interrogate Egon about things like the Ford Escape owners’ manual, or HBO’s Westworld; her Mom greeted Egon for the first time with a tour of some potential wedding venues in Chicago); as well as her endless energy, love of murder mystery dinners, and inability to be anywhere on time. Sara has survived Egon’s issues with traffic (lots of swearing) and enhanced concern over logistics (Sara has been able to show Egon that you can show up to the airport 15 mins before your international flight leaves and still make it). Together, they have taken on triathlons, built a stylish home, hosted tons of dinner parties (including murder mystery dinners, obviously), traveled (Cali, LC, NYC, Toronto, Argentina), developed a passion for wine (and the Somm documentaries), talked a lot about getting a puppy (soon, Egon promises), and spent a lot of time talking and planning and being excited about being together.

Eg and Sar love each other and most of all are thankful for the friends and family who have been along the way on their individual journeys and during their time as a couple. Thank you all for joining our wedding festivities!!
